And I'm Back

So the semester is officially over since my grades just posted, (highest gpa of my college career I might add) and I have been running Pandora constantly in my office as I work through what is more than likely going to be my best month as a Loan Officer. I've heard a lot of stuff I really liked, so I thought I would share with all of you.. Enjoy! Whitley, "More than Life" http://youtu.be/Qi3u0N_ZNEM The entire album is really good, worth the listen and the download. Ed Sheeran, "This" http://youtu.be/b226h8fAN6o Ed was on Conan last night and I really liked what I heard. His new album won't be released here in the US until June, but his stuff is pretty good. The Lumineers "Hey, Ho" http://youtu.be/zvCBSSwgtg4 I think they are trying way to hard to sound like Mumford and Sons, but this is still a catchy song and I really enjoy the album. Fun "We are Young" http://youtu.be/Sv6dMFF_yts Really not the best song off the album, but it's very catchy.

Top Ten Albmums of 2011 so far...

That time of year is quickly approaching for everyone's top Albums of the Year lists. I'm bored at work, as I work out my last two weeks before heading to greener pastures, so here is mine.

#10 Young the Giant, Young the Giant
My Body was released in early Jan and a lot of people including myself forgot about these guys between the relese of the single and the album's release in June. "My Body" and "Cough Syrup" were clearly the best tracks on the album. I recommend "Apartment" for your listening Pleasure

#9 TV on the Radio, Nine Types of Light
Fun is the best word to descrive TVoTR's latest offering. Lot's of tracks that are just fun to listen to. Nothing here made me sit up and wonder about my existence or question my role in society. It is a pleasure listening to this album.
Recommended Track "Keep Your Heart"

#8 Raphael Saadiq, Stone Rollin'
The Obsererver stated perfectly "this is straight out of the 60's" Take a listen.
Recommended Track "Stone Rollin"

#7 Noah & The Whale, Last Night on Earth
Fun album, little bit of Pep, Stacey is a big fan. L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N. is a fun track. the album is very listenable and is an acceptable background when meeting with clients to talk about their financial future.
Recommended track "Life is Life"

#6 Arctic Monkeys, Suck it and See
My suprise album of the year. I really didn't expect much from this album, Humbug was a 6 or 7 out of 10 and I thought this one would fall flat. Totally suprised. Take a listen to "brick By Brick" and "She's Thunderstorms".
Recommended Track "Don't Sit Down 'Cause I Moved Your Chair"

#5 Blink 182, Neighborhoods
Years in the making. Blink 182 reunites and puts out their first studio album in over 5 years. The Boys have grown up a little since their self title release in 2003. I emphasize the "little" in the previous sentence, these guys aren't going to be speaking at any commencement excercise in the future, but they aren't mindless for mindless sake anymore.
Recommended Track "Kaleidoscope"

, don't

#4 Foster the People, Torches
What hasn't been said about this album, it's catchy, it's overplayed, It's awesome. Pumped up Kicks is a huge hit. Big enough that Jack runs around singing "better run, better run faster than my bullet"
Recommended Track "Call it What you Want"

#3 Foo Fighters, Wasting Light
I am a huge Foo fan. I anxiously await most of their albums and end up listening to them for a couple weeks straight, take a break and come back in a couple months. This album is still in the CD player and I listen to it at least once a week. Recommended Track "Walk"

#2 Adele, 21
Yes the radio is killig this album and quite frankly this album should be number 1, if only every radio station in the country weren't playing this album at least 3 times an hour. Recommended Track "Turning Tables"

#1 Cold Play, Mylo Xyloto
Bruce remarked over the weekend that he couldn't figure out why this is the most hated band in the world. I struggle with that question, is it Chris Martins, attitude or the fact that every album they put out is a huge hit. Mylo is no exception, cuts 2-6 are incredibly radio friendly and I can't stop listening. Recommended Track "Hurts Like Heaven"

This list is subject to change as the Black Keyes new album is out next week.

New Music Thursday

Haven't updated in a few months. Realized I needed to get something on here right away.

Track Number 1 for Taylors April Playlist

Amos Lee, El Camino.
Great album, if you really want a treat listen to the last track with is a duet with Willie Nelson. 9 minutes of great music.

Track Number 2

Noah and The Whale, L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.

This is a fun little band. They've had a couple of relative "hits" It's a nice listen when you are in the mood for something peppy.

Track 3

Adele, Rolling In The Deep

I'm a big fan of the new Adele album, I start of my morning run with Adele every morning. She sets the tone for a great workout.

Really Grammys?

I've been reviewing the Grammy Nominations for Album of the Year and am appalled at their apparent lack of taste. Katy Perry and Lady Gaga? Really? In retaliation I have created my own Album of the Year and submit these for your deciding vote.

The Suburbs - The Arcade Fire

Sigh no more - Mumford and Sons

Kaleidoscope Heart - Sara Barilles

High Violet - The National

Contra- Vampire Weekend

Honorable Mentions:

Florence and The Machine - Lungs
Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

Enjoy!!

Music Running Through My Head

After attempting to abandon this blog, I've been convinced to keep going. Thanks Stacey!

Couple of albums I've been enjoying this week.

Two Door Cinema Club "I Can Talk"

So I wateched The Tent City episode of Community of last week and after watching this video I had the strange urge to go home and pull out all of our blankets and build my own fort. They remind me a little of Bell X1 and Phoenix.

Duffy, "Endlessly"

When you listen to Duffy do you think she's in the wrong era? It's the same thing I think about Raphael Sadiq. '50- '60's?

Nico Stai "You Came Around"

Nico has actually put out a couple of albums. This particural song is from his 2009 release. I recommend you start the song and minimize the screen so you don't have Nico staring at you for the entire song.

I'm Back!

Sorry months end is always crazy at the office and sadly this blog is the last priority. Months end is almost over and I was feeling like something peppy this morning. I started with some music from my Desert Island playlist (The White Stripes) hit my Genius Playlist button and let Apple drive the rest of the way. Enjoy.

The White Stripes, "My Doorbell"

Spoon, "The Underdog"

And just for Gavin, I threw in a little of the new Sufjan Stevens. The new album is great. If you haven't purchase it yet, do!

Sufjan Stevens "Now that I'm Older"

Anyways, hope everyone is having a great Snowy Day!
